2012 Resident Interns

Bethany Gorham, Santo Domingo

Bethany was born in Houston, Texas but raised in Laguna Beach, California. She is currently a junior at Texas Christian University; a Pre-law student studying marketing and finance. Bethany has been working with Esperanza’s water initiative since May 2011 and is now spending her spring semester in Santo Domingo, coordinating the implementation of pilot water projects and heading independent research studies to equivocate her course load at TCU. In addition she is working for MLB International aiding in their movement towards establishing a sustainable education program for international baseball players.

 

 

Rosmery Rosario, Santo Domingo

Rosmery is currently a senior at Northeastern University majoring in Behavioral Neuroscience with a minor in International Affairs. This is her second internship with Esperanza International. Rosmery is assisting in the Communications and Resources Department and is very excited about committing to another 6 months with the organization. She is a dominican native and hopes for the next few years to make it her home once again . Dancing, family, and serving her community are her passion.

Yvette Almonte, San Pedro de Macoris

Yvette is a Dominican-American young student who was born and raised in New York City. Her parents are from Santiago, Dominican Republic. She spent many of her childhood summers visiting her family in Santiago and is happy to be back after seven years without visiting. She hopes to use this time to understand more of her native culture and find ways to make a difference.Yvette is in her last year at Northeastern University as an International Affairs major with a minor in Social Entrepreneurship. As an Esperanza Fellow, she will work in the communications department providing stories from the field about our associates. She will be living in San Pedro de Macoris for six months. She wants to use this time to put her own stories and faces to the success of microfinance plus services. Yvette hopes she will be able to provide some of the best stories from the field and bring you with her on this journey

Kelsey Monson, Santiago

Kelsey is a senior at the University of Washington majoring in political economics with a minor in Latin American studies. She returns to the Dominican Republic as a communications intern in the Santiago branch office after serving as a 2010 Summer Fellow in the Los Alcarrizos branch office. Her favorite Dominican delicacy is jugo de chinola and she is currently learning to play merengue music on the piano.
